UNDERSTANDING LEARNERS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES
How do we get successful in the academic world?
Well one would agree with me in that there are major activities that we do to succeed at school
- we listen to the teachers
- we read
- we write
- we do Maths
This also applies in the real life situations. For us to get majority of the services we need in our daily lives depend also on the listed activities above e.g. for you to have been admitted at the College required
- writing of your LGCSE/IGCSE exams
- reading information on the application form
- writing - filling in the application form
- using mathematical knowledge- ( application fee, transport need from your home to LCE, etc)
It is understandable that people who fail to do all these encounter so many challenges in life. A person who has difficulties in one of these is said to have a learning disability.
What is Learning Disability?
Learning disabilities are specific learning difficulties that mostly affect language understanding (listening, speaking and writing) and comprehension of mathematics.
what are the types of learning disabilities?
There are many types of LD but we are going to focus only on three types of learning disabilities which are
- Dysgraphia
- Dyslexia
- Dyscalculia
