The course outlines guidance to understanding the collaborative relationship between parents and early childhood systems, programs, providers, family caregivers, and community service providers to promote positive, enduring change for children, families, and communities. The concepts such as family, community, values, practices and cultural beliefs for child rearing are explored. It imparts knowledge and positive attitudes to students to help them understand how children are raised in different contexts depending on different cultural beliefs, values and practices.   Students will learn about children’s rights and needs including interventions that can be made to empower families to cope with child upbringing in different circumstances. The course further highlights international, regional and national instruments and policies: UNCRC, The African Charter, Child Protection Act and others.
