CURRICULLUM STUDIES FOR BIOLOGY I

Course Synopsis:

This course is aimed at preparing students teachers for the teaching of biology in the first three years of secondary education. It deals with biology as a science and its teaching learning implications, the teaching of biology to develop values, skills, attitudes and knowledge with understanding. It exposes student teachers utilisation of the environment as a valuable teaching /learning resource as well peer teaching and small learning groups as instructional strategies in the teaching / learning of biology. The cause further assists student teachers to interpret and use curricular materials for the first three years of secondary education; as well as planning for selected topics in junior secondary biology.
