The course aims to provide student teachers with necessary knowledge and skills in relation to the major Home Economics Areas; namely:  Food and Nutrition, Clothing and Textiles, Home Management, and Child Care.

Food and Nutrition focuses on kitchen equipment, methods of cooking, meal planning, meal serving and food preservation. Clothing and Textiles covers fibres, different needlework processes and construction of simple garment. Home Management looks into environmental pollutants, waste management, dirt, stains, reagents, and budgeting. Child Care focuses on infant feeding, signs and symptoms of Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM), and signs and symptoms of PEM
