The following is the scope of this course: definition of research; developing research questions; reviewing related literature; research designs; sampling techniques; research instruments; procedure for data collection; analysis and interpretation of data; discussion of results.

COURSE AIMS

The course aims at:

1.         Expose students to research methods as a field of study.

2.         Equip students with research skills which will enable them to formulate proposals.

 COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, student teachers will be able to:

§  Compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative studies.

§  Formulate problems suitable for qualitative and quantitative studies.

§  Describe instruments for data collection.

§  Frame research and statistical hypotheses.

§  Demonstrate skills in analyzing a qualitative or a quantitative data.
