This course presents a historical overview of DEVELOPMENT and UNDERDEVELOPMENT. It defines development, exposes students to various MEASUREMENTS and INDICATORS OF DEVELOPMENT and discusses the INTEGRATED APPROACHES to SOCIO- ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT including participatory approach, asset-based approachcommunity-based approach, area-based approachcommunity economic development, welfare approach, spiritual-psychosocial approach, and rights-based approach. It also familiarizes students with a variety of THEORIES OF DEVELOPMENT such as Psychosexual Theory, Psychosocial Theory, Behavioral Theories, Cognitive Theory, Attachment Theory, Social Learning Theory and Sociocultural Theory.
