This course presents
a historical overview of DEVELOPMENT and UNDERDEVELOPMENT. It defines
development, exposes students to various MEASUREMENTS and INDICATORS OF
DEVELOPMENT and discusses the INTEGRATED APPROACHES to SOCIO- ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT including participatory approach,
asset-based approach, community-based approach,
area-based approach, community economic development,
welfare approach, spiritual-psychosocial approach, and
rights-based approach. It
also familiarizes students with a variety of THEORIES OF DEVELOPMENT such as Psychosexual Theory, Psychosocial Theory, Behavioral
Theories, Cognitive Theory, Attachment
Theory, Social Learning Theory and Sociocultural
Theory. This course also introduces students to basic
economic concepts such as micro and macro- economics
