This course provides a broad overview of the field. It explores the key concepts and phenomena such as the POPULATION GROWTH- explanation, theories, and DISTRIBUTION- population distribution model, MIGRATION- definition, factors influencing, results ECONOMIC GROWTH- definition, and ITS INDICATORS- core values of development, GDP, GNP, TYPES OF ECONOMY- subsistence/ traditional, mixed GOVERNMENT STRUCTURES, TYPES OF GOVERNMENTS and INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS. It also deals with CONTEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES to solve them locally and internationally. The use of TECHNOLOGY and COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES (ICTs) in this course has the potential to enable students to decipher various development concepts under review. Also, ICTs have recently become significant in teaching themes such as the environment and development.
