Course Synopsis:

COURSE AIMS:

The course is aimed at:

·         Broadening student teachers’ knowledge of the living part of the world.

·         Giving student teachers an insight into the theme of the organization that naturally exists within the living

          world.

·         Enabling student teachers to explain the underlying forces involved in sustaining life.

At the end of this course, student teachers should be able to:

  • Appreciate that the functions which maintain life are universal. These include the

obtaining, processing and distribution of essential materials, the removal of

metabolic wastes, and the regulation of all metabolic processes.

  • Observe that, organisms possess various structures and behavioural patterns

 which enable them to perform those functions efficiently in their environment.

  • Observe and recognise that structure and function complement each other and culminate in an organism’s successful adaptation to its environment.
