This course is designed for all students registered in the department of Pure Science. It is intended to equip student teachers with content knowledge and skills that will enable them to handle secondary mathematics with proficiency and also to further up their studies. The topics covered include analytic geometry, limit concept, differentiation and integration.

COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

 

The aim of this course is to equip student-teachers with content knowledge and skills that will enable them to meet mathematical requirements in their area of specialization.

 

COURSE   OBJECTIVES:

By the end of this course, student-teachers should be able to:

Ø    Find and use geometrical equations

Ø  Draw geometrical graphs and use them in different situations

Ø  Describe the concept of a limit and its importance to continuity,

Ø  Describe a derivative and outline the simple rules of differentiation,

Ø  Apply differential calculus to solve everyday life situations,

Ø  Explain integration as anti-differentiation,

Ø  Use simple rules of integration.
