This
course deals with trade and tourism as vital engines of development. The
dynamic benefits of tourism and international trade, as well as multilateral
trade institutions such as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) will be dealt
with. Also, the controversies surrounding the role of Transnational
Corporations will be looked into. This course highlights the contribution of
trade to rural and agricultural development in particular. Students search for
ways in which trade and tourism activities
can respond to the socioeconomic and political needs of the nation.
