The course deals with trade and tourism as vital engines of development. The dynamic benefits of tourism and international trade, as well as multilateral trade institutions such as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) will be dealt with. Also, the controversies surrounding the role of Transnational Corporations are explored. This course highlights the contribution of trade to rural and agricultural development in particular. Students search for ways in which activities can respond to the socioeconomic and political needs of the nation.
