This
course introduces student teachers to the role of science in the society and
its importance in the school curriculum, the nature of science, scientific
method (processes of science), inductive & deductive logic as well as
science as a process and a product.
It also deals with theories of learning:
behaviourism (Pavlov) and constructivism (Piaget, Ausubel, Bruner and Vygotsky).
Methods of teaching science, laboratory work, investigation, inquiry, discovery
and others will also be explored.
