This course introduces
problems, issues and theories of underdevelopment. Particular attention is
given to problems relating to livelihoods, gender, education, health and the
environment. The causes and consequences of these problems are studied and strategies
to deal with them are appraised in the context of Lesotho and Southern Africa.
